After moving to Boston from Virginia, to spy on his sister who just started college, Boyd finds himself working for the student union where he raises hell more often than he should.

Travis Marks and Wes Mitchell are two partners who – apart from their polarity and odd couple behavior – have a seven-year track record as the Los Angeles Police Department's best detectives in the Robbery-Homicide Division. Since their constant bickering is interfering with work, their new-age captain – who found counseling changed his life – sends them to couples' therapy.

This movie contains three short stories dealing with the theme of homosexuality. In "A Friend of Dorothy", a woman joins the Navy during the 1950's and discovers lesbianism. In "Mr. Roberts", a teacher in a 1970's classroom struggles with his closeted gay status. Finally in "Amos and Andy", a father wrestles with his own emotional acceptance of a present day wedding between his son and another man.

木下良子は一人暮らしのアパートで、在宅で仕事をしている。ある日良子は青紫色の実を拾う。実の存在が良子に影響をもたらしたのか、あるいは潜在的に内に秘めていた欲望か、良子は他者との身体的な接触を求め、その欲望にかられる。良子の衝動に伴うかのように実は変化していき、徐々に実の存在に囚われていく。

子どもたちや常連客でにぎわう京都・下京区の喫茶店「そのうちcafe」で、「大林沙耶」と名乗る若い女性が働き始める。不器用ながらも一生懸命に働く沙耶の姿は、店主・星孝史や常連客の間で注目の的となっていった。そんな沙耶の姿を遠くから盗み見る男の存在に気づいた星。事情を聞くと、セクハラのでっち上げにより大学教授からホームレスにまで成り下がったこの男は、沙耶の元義理の父親だという。実は星も前妻との離婚後、DVのでっち上げによって娘に一度も会えていないという寂しさを抱えていた。そこで、沙耶とこの元義理の父親との再会の場を設けようと画策する星。しかしその結果、星にとって思いがけない事実が明るみになり、否が応にもそれぞれの過去や事実ともう一度向き合う必要性に迫られていく──。
